Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research))

The role of the Research Strategy Office is to enhance the University's research performance and profile by working with Faculties, research teams and researchers to  identify opportunities for research funding including awards and fellowships,ensure submission high quality, competitive, research grant applications to provide discipline specific expertise on grants support for UNSW researchers at all stages of their careers. 

Major priorities of the Research Strategy Office include assisting UNSW researchers to initiate, facilitate and submit significant new national and international research funding applications, including for major research centres and program grants as well as strategically identifying, mentoring and assisting potential Laureate, Australia, ARC and NH&MRC  Fellowship applicants.

The Research Strategy Office works closely with the Grants Management Office, which is responsible for the efficient administration and reporting of all research grants at UNSW. The Grants Management Office coordinates submission of grants, ensures compliance with funding agency rules and regulations, and that researchers meet all funding body financial and progress reporting requirements.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Strategy), Professor Margaret Harding has executive responsibility for the Graduate Research School, Grants Management Office and the Research Strategy Office.

The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor provides strategic leadership and support to the DVC (Research) in the generation of external research income and improving UNSW's overall research performance, including all higher degree research matters. 

The Research Strategy Office and the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Research Strategy are located on Level 4 (South Wing) of the Rupert Myers Building, UNSW Map Reference M15.

MAJOR FUNDING ROUNDS FOR 2010/2011

The Research Strategy Office (RSO) provides intensive strategic grantsmanship support for the major ARC funding rounds of Discovery, Linkage, and Future Fellows. Specialist support is also available to Cooperative Research Centre applicants. For further information please click here
